Three min movie

I eddited this movie for Laura Wallace (the designer of the garments) its part of her project to show the concept of her garments in a diffrent way. We worked together in producing this video, laura takeing all the images and then me edditing them all together to create this movie. I really enjoyed this as I could use my basic skills in Finial Cut and develop them. I also learned a few more things about the program as well as SoundTrack Pro which i have never used before.
I included a few screen shots because i dont like too much txt with no images!

Dolls House Locations

I originally intended to have the house image in the basement, which I thought would better enhance the story of the doll because it would look like the dolls house had been cast aside in the basement.
Then I played around with outdoor locations so that the house looked like a real house. However even thought the image made sense I found the greenery far too distracting for the delicate interior of the image.
So I tried a much plainer background, I like how the image inside the house with the plain wall paper and plain carpet allows your eyes to rest inside the house instead of being distracted but what’s going on outside the dolls house. I also was drawn to the fact that the 1st two levels of the house will be light this will sit on the white wall, the 3rd floor will sit between the white and dark carpet, and the basement will be situated in the dark carpet.

A New Way to Display Images
I was given this dolls house, which used to be my Granny's, I always used to play with it when I was younger. I remember being fascinated with the tiny accessories and the way she always had everything placed neatly and carefully. This is why I think i will test out Photoshopping the images i have taken into the dolls house to see what it looks like. I like the idea of using the House that used to belong to my Granny, I think playing with the dolls house she had when i was little and then my grandpa making me one could of influenced this project. So this is why i have decided to test my Photoshop skills, to construct one image out of 3-4 images. This is also what i really enjoying doing, i love editing images more than taking them. So this will be a challenge as i haven't Photoshopped anything to this extreme before but i think if i can do it properly then the effect will look interesting and therefore be worth it.
Layout Of Finial Images

Taking influence from the layout of a typical dolls house. In the finial piece I will have one more image which would maybe be the 'doll' falling down the stairs. So in the finial piece i would have the top image as the bedroom, the second image as the front room then next to that the doll on the stairs as if she has fallen down then the last image of the doll in the basement.

Second fully eddited image

This image will the second image in the series. In this image I have also tried to keep the composition straight on to mimic a dolls house. This second image symbolizes a transition from the ‘doll’ being kept neat and tidy to not as cared for. The doll being on the floor, the stool being tipped over the saucer on the floor, show this.

A couple of Images For the Finial Piece

I am very happy with this image, I think it really shows the delicate nature of a doll. As well getting across the idea that she has been placed in the room with care, the composition of the image is straight on because I wanted it to mimic a room in a dolls house. All the furniture being symmetrical and centralised enhances this.
Back to Work on The Finial Project
I think I have finely got my images shot and for the most part edited. However my last shoot didn’t go as well as I hoped, as the model I have been using was too ill. So I had to get a stand in, the images look ok if there’s not chance of a reshoot, but I would like to try again with my original model. However the designer that I have been borrowing the garment off has to hand them in soon and is unsure when she can get them back. So a bit of Photoshopping may have to be in order! Either to Photoshop the garments onto the original model or Photoshop the original models face onto for the new model, so the faces look the same. This is not really what I wanted to do but with so many different people involved with this project it may be all I can do which is a shame.
A Break
It was nice to have a break from the yearlong project and take some diffrent types of fashion imagery.
However it’s back to the consolidated project!

CONCEPT
The concept has taken a while to develop, I knew what i wanted to say in my head but i was finding it hard to show the concept within the images so it would make sense.
I wanted to show the idea of 'faded glamour' the best way i thought was to use imagery that would reflect to a doll, because we all know that toys are given to us new and shiny, they are cared for but as we play with them they get shabby and less shiny and new, until eventually the toy is never played with and gets discarded.
How i will show this concept is though a number of images, the 'doll' (who will be human) is in a doll house. The first image will be as if the doll is placed really carefully, Second image will be the doll in the bath hair wet (this will hopefully draw upon when you get bored of the barbie finding more interesting things to do with the doll other then keeping it nice and tidy, for example putting it in water and cutting the hair) The next image would be as if the doll has just been thrown in the doll house. Then the one after will be of the doll in the basement in storage. I was thinking of a finial image, to suggest that the doll has washed away down a river.

Wild Fox

I aways have to look at the Wild Fox shoots every season, there always really interesting how they mix casual with dressy and over the top to sell their clothing!
Each shoot is on a theme and if you look at the image from start to finnish they tell a story, which is what i really would like to do in my images. This photo also happens to have the set i want for my shoot!

Plans for today!
Today i am going to be shown around the location for my photoshoot! Extremely excited as i think its going to be perfect... its at the Mosborough Hall Hotel http://www.mosboroughhall.co.uk/ in Sheffield! The lady i have spoken to about it sounds lovely! Pictures will be coming soon!

Tina Patni - the Diva Models Calendar

Really love these images. The poses are so interesting, as well as the set, and the colours of the image.
I also really like the puppet strings with the set looking like a theatre, I think I will edit some images to make the model look really doll like with the shiny skin as if the model is made out of plastic.

Sasha Pivovarova by Paolo Roversi

Paolo Roversi shoots Sasha Pivovarova for the Spring/Summer 2011 Alberta Ferretti campaign.
Once again i am drawn to the textures in this images and the different tones of off white. I love how simple these images look. And its a different take of the usual back drop of the white studio imagery, having just a slightly different texture to the background ... i think is defiantly something i should conceder if i were to do some studio images.
Richard Avedon

For the New York Times...
In Memory of the Late Mr. and Mrs. Comfort, a fable by Richard Avedon. Featuring model Nadja Auermann and a friendly skeleton companion, originally appearing in The New Yorker, November 6, 1995.
These images are so incredible, the mix of life and death, the textures and colours make these images some of my favourites even though they first featured in the new york times in 1995 they still look up to date, and i think this can be said for Avedon style it never seams to date, and is always relevant.
Not very successful
My time at home has not been very successful photography work wise, although i have worked load over the Christmas period to fund this project so i suppose thats something, not having the money worries of how much everything is going to cost is a huge weight lifted!
A new Inspiration

Found these images on http://www.touchpuppet.com/
I really think this idea of drawing on the face idea is really cool, i like the hair styles and the streaks of colour, i used to do this to my dolls when i was little i really want to get this across i'm my images.
I also love the pose of the first image and i think this would look good as a doll pose.
